Has God Spoken?

Has God Spoken?
Proof of the Bible’s Divine Inspiration
By Hank Hanegraaff
Published by Thomas Nelson

Hank Hanegraaff has answered the question posed in the title of his book, Has God Spoken? This non-fiction title includes memorable proofs of the Bible’s divine inspiration from God to the writers of his word. Not only does Mr. Hanegraaff  employs use of manuscript records and archeology to show proof of certain facts given throughout the Bible; but Hanegraaff gives both sides of many controversies concerning these issues.

Throughout this book are numerous examples of so-called myths and lies of the Bible and how science has eventually proven them to be true accounts. Published in 2011, this book lists many recent findings by archeologists that are in total agreement with passages from the Bible.

As one who believes that the Bible is God’s word given to men to pen down, I really enjoyed all the updated archeological findings that have proven certain passages. I believe this is a very thorough and well thought-out book that is a wonderful addition to any library. I will say that it is not an easy or light read. It is definitely written for students of the Bible, or for those who have some knowledge of the Bible.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who longs for substantial proof that God’s word really is true. It is a book full of facts and does use some technical language, but if you want to know how to defend God’s word, then this book is for you. I have to give this book a 4 star rating.

Diary in the Attic by Cindy L. Freeman

Diary in the Attic
By Cindy L. Freeman
Published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

Margaret Monroe’s life is drawn into a mystery when her fellow employee summons her to her death bed. Margaret has no idea why her cold and distant co-worker, Corrine Melton was asking for her by name. The mystery looms larger as it is discovered that Corrine’s mother was found murdered in her home the same night Corrine had her car accident and subsequently died after uttering a few last words to Margaret. As police suspect Corrine of murdering her own mother, Margaret searches for answers at the run-down Victorian home where Corrine had been living with her mother.

As a lover of mystery and suspense stories, I found Diary in the Attic by Cindy L. Freeman to be both of these things. At only ninety-nine pages in length, this book was a quick and enjoyable read with well-developed characters. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the plot twisted and turned to surprise me. Freeman’s writing was very descriptive and kept my interest.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a mystery or short stories. The font of the book was also a little larger than most paperbacks which made it easier on the eyes while reading. I would rate this book with 4 out of 5 stars.

Love You More, The Divine Surprise of Adopting My Daughter

Love You More, The Divine Surprise of Adopting My Daughter
By Jennifer Grant
Published by Thomas Nelson

Jennifer Grant’s Love You More, weaves together the intricacies of international adoption with all of the emotions that go along with creating a blended family. Her story of adopting a child from Guatemala not only speaks of the process itself, but of how this divine blessing from God impacts the lives of her husband, her three young children, and herself. This poignant and moving story speaks to the heart of any parent or anyone who plans to have children by either childbirth or adoption. Grant’s words paint a true picture of what parenting in any facet is all about.

I found this true story fascinating and well-spoken from cover to cover. In addition to speaking about the adoption process, this book spoke volumes on what it means to be a good parent. Written in easy to understand language, this story touches on the inner working of the heart, obedience to God, and how true reliance on God is necessary to live a happy and fulfilled life. Without sugar-coating, Grant gives an inspirational account of her family’s adoption experience that is often interspersed with down to earth humor. Details of her journey are covered from beginning to end without ever becoming boring. Grant also includes numerous resources on adoption at the back of the book.

I would highly recommend this book to those who are considering adoption, any parent, or anyone who simply enjoys reading about real-life families. I absolutely loved reading this book with all of its insights and offerings. I found myself unwilling to put it down, and read it in just a couple of days.
